I’ve been thinking lately about how much of my thoughts and opinions in life has been shaped by corruption. Is anything real? Maybe death, that’s real. I’d hear people say there’s such a thing as a cabal. I didn’t ever believe it but now I do. I’m now one of those “crazy” people. All of these corrupt corporations who do what they please for profit, by using not so hidden deceptive practices, should be regulated but unfortunately the regulators are corrupt too.
It wasn't always pure corruption but like our housing the top tier deep pockets have gotten a bigger piece of the system every year. My Washington career went from Watergate to Bush Sr election when the corruption was too bad for me to be a part of the system. It's easier to think about it in terms of how many people you can imagine will be greedy and lie or turn a blind eye in exchange for a luxury lifestyle and tell themselves if not them someone else would do the job. Each person takes a little piece and after decades little is left but fraud and waste that begins with Congress and NGO-think tank schemers with the dirtiest hands.
Pamela, well said. Watergate was the Nixon era but also the Vietnam war. The young men were expendable for what? Communism wasn’t the threat they made people believe through propaganda. I have heard people in my life say “if I don’t do it someone else will.” Which to these people justifies it. What a very sad commentary about human beings.
