Interesting that Andersen published a paper with Shi Zhengli in 2021, given that in 2020 he told colleagues that Shi’s comment in an interview that she “had to check the lab” she she heard about the virus was one factor that made him think a lab origin could not be ruled out.

I remember the news stories about “the Bat Lady of Wuhan” which began to appear in the early Spring of 2020, and her saying that she had checked to make sure the virus did not come from her lab (whew!). I believe now that this was part of a disinformation campaign from China and possibly the US researchers who had been working with Shi. It’s too big a coincidence that this woman who had been studying bat viruses would suddenly receive favorable US media profiles.
