The sugar industry adapted Big Tobacco's tactics to thwart any attempts to reduce the sugar content of food. This may have been a spin-off from tobacco companies that diversified by buying food companies. And of course during COVID we were exhorted to "trust the science", when The Science was spelled F-A-U-C-I. As for our "prestigious" universities, the response to the horrific attack on Israel on October 7 has revealed how many of them have sold their integrity to terrorist organizations. The same could be said of mainstream news organizations. We've reached a point where the source of truth is now whomever has the biggest checkbook.
The pharma lobby owns politicians in both parties. When I worked on Capitol Hill years ago, I couldn't understand how PACs were legal. Might want a listing how much each congressman receives.
